Hi, I’m Lucas Foster, the cook, writer, and everyday food enthusiast behind Totally in the Zone.
This space is where my love for cooking meets my belief that food should fit into real life. Not rushed.
Not overcomplicated. Just thoughtful, satisfying, and made with intention.
How My Food Journey Began
I didn’t grow up dreaming of being a chef or running a food blog. I grew up learning how food could ground you. Cooking was something I returned to during busy seasons, uncertain moments, and days when I needed focus.
What started as simple home cooking slowly became a routine I relied on. Cooking helped me slow down, stay present, and reconnect with myself. Over time, friends began asking for recipes. Notes turned into posts. Posts turned into Totally in the Zone.
Becoming a Dedicated Food Blogger
Totally in the Zone was created as a place to share food that supports focus and balance. I test every recipe in my own kitchen, often more than once, making sure it works for real people with real schedules.
As a food blogger, I focus on meals that feel intentional without being restrictive. I care about flavor, ease, and the experience of cooking just as much as the final dish.
Blogging has allowed me to connect with readers who want food that fits into their lives instead of taking them over.
Life Outside the Food Blog

When I’m not developing recipes or writing, I spend time learning, observing, and staying curious. I believe inspiration comes from everyday moments, whether that’s a quiet morning, a good playlist, or a simple walk that clears the mind.
Those moments outside the kitchen shape how I cook and write. They remind me that food is part of life, not the whole performance.
My Approach to Food and Cooking
My cooking style is simple, flexible, and thoughtful. I believe:
- Food should feel approachable
- Cooking does not need to be perfect to be meaningful
- Consistency matters more than complexity
- A calm kitchen creates better meals
I don’t chase trends or perfection. I focus on food that works, tastes good, and feels right.
Why Totally in the Zone Exists
This blog exists for people who want to cook without pressure. For those who enjoy the rhythm of chopping, stirring, and tasting. For anyone who finds clarity and comfort in the kitchen.
If you’ve ever cooked to reset your mind or find a little calm, you’re in the right place.
Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey with me.
Lucas
