Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh green beans trimmed and thoroughly dried
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil good quality for flavor and crisping
  • ½ teaspoon salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder or 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 lemon lemon for squeezing after roasting
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Silicone spatula or tongs

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F). This quick burst of heat starts the roasting process immediately.
  2. Trim the ends of the green beans and pat them completely dry with a towel to ensure they roast crisply without steaming.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the green beans with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated. The oil helps develop a crispy exterior, and the seasonings add depth of flavor.
  4. Arrange the seasoned green beans in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spreading them out to avoid overlapping for even roasting.
  5. Cook the green beans for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. You'll hear gentle sizzling and see the beans start to blister and turn a darker green.
  6. Once the beans are blistered and fragrant, remove them from the air fryer. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the hot beans for a bright, tangy finish.
  7. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the beans while still warm to melt slightly and add umami flavor.
  8. Serve immediately while the beans are crisp and fragrant, garnished with extra lemon zest or herbs if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding chili flakes or fresh herbs before serving. Adjust cooking time based on the size and freshness of your green beans.
