Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen tropical fruit (e.g., mango, pineapple, papaya) preferably pre-cut and frozen
  • 1 cup fresh citrus juice (e.g., orange, lime) for brightness and citrus flavor
  • 1/2 cup rum (white or aged) adds warmth and depth
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon adds warming spice
  • 1 cup diced tropical fruit with cinnamon and a pinch of chili powder for layered, spiced fruit

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Combine the frozen tropical fruit, citrus juice, rum, and ice cubes in a blender. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and slushy, with a slightly creamy texture and vibrant color.
  2. Pour the blended mixture into tall glasses, filling two-thirds of each glass. The slush should be thick, icy, and cold to the touch with a frosty surface.
  3. In a small bowl, toss the diced tropical fruit with cinnamon and a pinch of chili powder to create a fragrant, spiced topping.
  4. Layer a spoonful of the spiced fruit mixture on top of the frozen slush in each glass, creating a colorful and aromatic topping with visible pieces of fruit and spices.
  5. Garnish with additional slices of fresh citrus or tropical fruit if desired, and serve immediately while cold and icy.

Notes

For extra flair, rim glasses with sugar or salt before pouring the slushie. Adjust the sweetness and spice level to taste by adding more citrus or chili powder.
